Light Contact Finishing Drills
Perform light contact finishing drills around the basket to get your players used to feeling contact when they shoot. More finished shots can lead to better offensive production!
In games and practice, how often does light contact during a shot ensure that your player will miss the shot? Six times a game, seven, eight? Even if (and often it is not) the foul is called, your team only has a chance for two points, often coming away with only one.
With the Rip Through, you can perform light contact finishing drills around the basket to get your players used to feeling contact on those shots! This potentially could be the difference between making and missing some of those shots.
Below is a hypothetical scenario from a game:
Without the Rip Through: 8 opportunities to make the shot and get fouled (two per quarter).
Player makes none of the shots = 0 points.
Player makes (75%) 12 out of 16 free throws = 12 points.
TOTAL: 12 POINTS
With the Rip Through: 8 opportunities to make the shot and get fouled (two per quarter)
Player makes 6 of the 8 shots = 12 points
Player makes (75%) 6 of the 8 free throws = 6 points
TOTAL: 18 POINTS
THAT IS A DIFFERENCE OF SIX POINTS!
How many of us coaches would want those SIX points at the end of a game!
